Munchen my way through Munchen

No matter how smoothly I plan out my trips, it seems that external forces, aka travel gremlins seem to have this knack of shredding my plans into tiny little mind fields of disaster. My first mistake was in choosing AerLingus- Ireland’s only 4 ⭐️ shithole of a transport delay system.
Initial departure out of Toronto was first delayed due to late arrival of inbound plane then further cleaning required to perhaps clean Guinness puke off the walls, That set things back a half hour before they discovered a broken doorpart- nothing too important! That required another hour to fix. Thus we departed Toronto almost 2 hours behind schedule for a connection with a 90 minute overlap. We arrived in Dublin, promptly on time- yeah right! Roughly 40 minutes after the Munich plane began to enter European air space.
Our best hope for a replacement went from our original 7:10 am flight to a 4:20pm departure. The airline gave us new boarding passes, not commenting on the 9 hour delay or the EXTREME generosity of our meal vouchers. 8E per person. Seemed not bad till we discovered a large coffee was almost 4euro by itself and even shitty BoogerKing meals started at 9Euro. Decent places wanted 12-14 for chicken and veg. Beverage extra! SOB’s
The plane, scheduled for 4;20 PM departure started boarding a 4:10pm in no particular order leaving front overheads jammed and the back ones probably empty. Seats were so tight that zoning variances were required if you needed to fart, move or deep breath. The plane did take off 40 minutes late. I’m sure their motto is We get you there, and we don’t care, if you arrive, sporting grey hair.
My suitcase was the first or second off the belt, with Susanna’s apparently arriving by Carrier pidgeon? a half hour later.
Heading for the S Bahn- I thought it stood for speed but sadly no. WE arrived at the main station shortly after 8, remembering the massive food court in the main platform area. Crossing the street south of the station it took us 10 minutes to locate the hotel another 10 to check in and make a last minute dash for a late snack. Whitbier and a cold plate of roast pork, sausage, cheese, soft cheese.pickles, prtezels and shaved horseradish, cheese balls, pates etc.hit the spot and we crawled off to bed for what I hoped would be the night but that ended in me being wide awake at 2:30am local time- (9:30pmOntario time.
I’ve been typing this blog since then, trying to decide what to see tomorrow morning when the alarm goes off.at 7:15. The streets last night looked like a processing centre for Al Qaeda with a couple of hard bumps by a couple of “testers” looking for my wallet or cell phone. Sorry F face, not happening.
As I recall from our last visit the area around the main train station makes this part of Munich look more like the Middle East rather than the middle of Europe.
Every other restaurant sells falafel and giros and jewellery stores selling 22K gold bangles are a dime a dozen. The streets are full of loitering darker skinned males, many drinking beer at all hours of the day- clearly not adherents of the Muslim Faith and women are garbed in traditional outfits, many with hijabs, veils and a few in strange metallic looking “masks” that cover the mouth and shield the eyes but leave the rest of the face exposed. Strange, to say the least as it is not something one sees in Canada.
Having missed a good half day of exploration today, we will have to pack in a couple of days of exploration when we hit the trail tomorrow morning.
